The team (Caposse) is a group of backcountry mentors that have three very important things in common:
A Capow! guide’s approach is more than “I lead, you follow,” instead, they inspire and educate steps through the PROcess of decision making and how it applies to the real mountain environment. They are backcountry mentors that lead by setting an example, stimulate the conversation and tailor to their guests desires for higher learning and experiences. Troy has had a long career in the mountains. But he’s the furthest thing from that ‘crusty mountain guy’. He has an incredible enthusiasm for instruction, the mountains and general love for people. His background runs deep from ski patrol, guiding and teaching AST courses. Troy’s the kind of guy who will be quietly watching the treetops, communicating with a spotted owl, while the rest of the crew yells obscenities and points their poles at lines they couldn’t actually handle. We don’t like the word legend around here, but we’ll reserve the privilege for an OG like Leahey.
